Description
Small Scale Sustainable beekeeping course
This course offers an excellent base on which to develop your skills as a beekeeper mimicking traditional apprenticeship collaborations. That means lots of mentoring but especially lots of hands on. We’ve seen the results of weekend courses and that is why this program has evolved.
The course is suitable for beekeepers of all levels of experience including those just getting started. Set yourself and your hives up for success!
This is a year long course following the seasons of the honey bee and supporting beekeepers through the 12 months.
Alumni students are welcome back for subsequent years to keep honing their skills and also to share their with the new students. Everyone benefits – including the Bees! 🐝
In this course you will learn how to keep bees in an increasingly inhospitable world. The curriculum is suitable for people starting their first colonies, those who plan to get bees in the future or anybody who just wants some bee time.
Students receive a monthly on line assignment, reading materials and quiz. During the season we do two field days per month hands on in one of our many teaching apiaries. Students are invited to help out as much as they want in a small scale sustainable apiary. If you want experience and time with bees you love this!
During the winter months we regularly get together for products of the hive. Salves, candles, equipment making and much more.
We have many activities around the bees. Students get to know each other, network, take care of each others bees – and also have fun!
